Labuan Bajo — The Class II TPI Immigration Office in Labuan Bajo brought mobile passport and immigration services to Ruteng on Monday, 22 June 2026, allowing residents to access documentation without travelling to Labuan Bajo, according to Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI). The one-day service was held at Biara Susteran Gembala Baik in Ruteng.

RRI reported that the outreach formed part of the office’s “jemput bola” approach, taking services directly to communities that live far from the immigration office in Labuan Bajo. According to the report, residents in Ruteng were able to handle passport applications and immigration residence matters more quickly and with lower travel costs because officers came to the town.

The service was organised by the Class II TPI Immigration Office in Labuan Bajo, whose jurisdiction covers Manggarai Barat and surrounding areas, including Ruteng. The office has promoted similar efforts to extend immigration services to other locations in its working area, including residence-permit services at a public service mall in Ngada, according to information published by the office.

Services for residents and foreign nationals

According to RRI, the mobile service in Ruteng offered two main types of assistance. Local residents could submit and process passport applications, while foreign nationals living in the area could handle immigration residence matters.

RRI reported that officers also handed over an Indonesian limited-stay permit card, known as an ITAS (Izin Tinggal Terbatas), to a foreign national residing in Ruteng during the event. The report described passport services and immigration residence permits as separate parts of the outreach.

In addition to processing applications, immigration officers used the visit to explain the obligations of sponsors for foreign nationals and to underline the importance of complying with immigration rules. The RRI report said officers encouraged local residents to support monitoring of foreigners in the area by staying informed about immigration regulations.

Officials highlight access and responsiveness

According to RRI, Yudha Karisma Prandigda, head of the immigration traffic and residence-permit section at the Labuan Bajo office, said the outside-office service aimed to ensure that all residents had equal access to immigration services. He was quoted as saying that some applicants faced difficulties travelling directly to the office, and that mobile services were designed to bring procedures closer to them.

RRI also reported comments from Charles Christian Mathaus, head of the Class II TPI Immigration Office in Labuan Bajo. He said the office’s approach focused on bringing public services closer to residents and making them easier to access, and described the outreach as part of a broader commitment to responsive, community-oriented service.

Key details of the Ruteng outreach

According to RRI and information published by the Labuan Bajo immigration office, the Ruteng mobile service had the following characteristics:

  • Date: Monday, 22 June 2026.
  • Location: Biara Susteran Gembala Baik, Ruteng.
  • Provider: Class II TPI Immigration Office, Labuan Bajo.
  • Services mentioned: passport applications and processing, immigration residence permits and ITAS-related service for foreign nationals.

General guidance on passport requirements and procedures for Indonesia, published by the Directorate General of Immigration, indicates that applicants are typically required to prepare an electronic ID card, family card and supporting civil-status documents, and to register through the M-Paspor application before visiting an immigration service point. However, the RRI report on the Ruteng outreach did not specify whether these standard requirements were modified for the mobile service.
