Labuan Bajo — — The Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (BPOLBF) used Indonesia’s 2026 National Tourism Coordination Meeting in Jakarta to promote sustainable tourism investment and showcase development plans for the Parapuar area and wider Labuan Bajo Flores region.

According to a BPOLBF news release, the authority took part in the 2026 National Tourism Coordination Meeting (Rakornas Pariwisata) held on 20–21 May 2026 at Balairung Soesilo Soedarman in the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. A separate account from the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) confirms the meeting, its venue and dates, and describes it as a strategic national forum for tourism policy and coordination.

BPOLBF framed its participation around strengthening collaboration and encouraging sustainable tourism investment in Labuan Bajo Flores. As a special-purpose agency under the ministry, BPOLBF is responsible for accelerating integrated tourism development in Labuan Bajo Flores and managing the Parapuar area within the Nggorang Bowosie forest as part of its authoritative zone.

BPOLBF’s role and presentations

The BPOLBF release states that Acting President Director Andhy MT Marpaung attended the meeting and highlighted Labuan Bajo Flores as a destination whose development should combine visitor facilities, local economic activity, cultural preservation and environmental considerations. His remarks were presented in the context of promoting sustainable tourism investment rather than individual project announcements.

BPOLBF operated an exhibition booth at the Rakornas, where it displayed the master plan for the Parapuar area, investment-related materials and video content promoting tourism destinations in Labuan Bajo Flores. The booth also featured documentation of community-impact programmes, products from local micro, small and medium enterprises, and traditional Flores woven textiles, positioning Parapuar and Labuan Bajo Flores as destinations that integrate community participation with tourism growth.

The authority described these materials as tools to introduce Labuan Bajo Flores’ development potential and invite investment aligned with sustainable tourism principles. However, the available releases do not specify individual investment projects, capital requirements, expected returns, or detailed construction timetables linked directly to the Rakornas presentations.

National forum and sustainability theme

The Rakornas Pariwisata 2026 was organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy as a national coordination forum for tourism stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations and other participants. ASITA’s account notes that the meeting carried the theme “Optimalisasi, Resiliensi, Inovasi, dan Keberlanjutan (ORIK): Transformasi Ekosistem Kepariwisataan Nasional Menuju Target 2026”, emphasising optimisation, resilience, innovation and sustainability in tourism development.

BPOLBF’s emphasis on community impact, local enterprise products and the Parapuar master plan aligned its Labuan Bajo Flores pitch with this national focus on sustainability and transformation. National-level statements cited in the government and association coverage highlight the need for integrated destination planning and stronger collaboration between central and regional actors to turn diverse tourism assets into globally competitive, sustainable areas, although they do not provide project-level requirements specific to Parapuar.

Parapuar and investment context

Separate BPOLBF materials describe Parapuar as a key authorised area for tourism development, planned in four zones: culture, leisure, adventure and wilderness nature. Parapuar is presented as a hub for tourism investment, community activities and environmental education, reinforcing its prominence in BPOLBF’s booth and promotional messaging at the Rakornas.

BPOLBF has also used other events in Jakarta to sign memorandums of understanding with investors for initiatives such as health-oriented tourism and agro-tourism in Parapuar, indicating an active investment pipeline for the area. However, these agreements were concluded at separate occasions earlier in 2026 and are not reported as outcomes of the May Rakornas coordination meeting.

Public information published by BPOLBF and oversight documents from the ministry show ongoing efforts to track visitor numbers, performance and investment-related activities in Labuan Bajo Flores, but they do not yet provide a detailed breakdown of commitments directly attributable to the presentations at the 2026 Rakornas.

Outstanding details

Across the official and association accounts, the 2026 Rakornas Pariwisata is described as a high-level coordination and promotion forum, rather than a venue where specific Labuan Bajo Flores investment deals were publicly confirmed. None of the available sources detail whether investors made formal offers, signed new agreements or committed to particular Parapuar projects during the two-day meeting.

Similarly, while sustainability and community impact are central themes, the coverage does not set out project-level environmental approvals, carrying-capacity limits or binding community-benefit mechanisms associated specifically with the opportunities BPOLBF showcased at the Rakornas.
