Labuan Bajo — PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry’s Labuan Bajo–Sape branch said on 30 September 2026 that at least 63 vehicles carrying assistance for people affected by the Flores earthquake had crossed on its ferry service.
Why it matters: Relief groups transporting aid vehicles between Sape and Flores can use the route without ferry charges, although aid documentation and vessel manifests remain required.
The vehicles came from local governments, public institutions, private companies, community organisations and volunteer groups, according to ASDP branch manager Ronaldo Hutabarat as quoted by Pos Kupang. Their loads included food, clothing, medicines, tarpaulins, evacuation tents, public-kitchen equipment, ambulances and rescue vehicles.
ASDP provided the vehicles carrying relief supplies with free ferry service, Hutabarat said. Volunteers and aid organisers still had to provide documents explaining the purpose of the mobilisation, while the vehicles and their cargo were recorded on the vessel manifest.
The crossings made the Labuan Bajo–Sape service a transport link for relief shipments reaching earthquake-affected areas in Flores. A separate report by JPNN said the earthquake struck several parts of Flores on 15 August 2026 and that ASDP checked vessels and port facilities before supporting humanitarian transport.
Relief movements through the route included shipments from outside Flores. Maklumat reported that four trucks carrying logistics from Muhammadiyah’s East Java zakat organisation travelled by road and ASDP ferry toward Flores, with distribution planned for 24 September.
