Ruteng — PLN ULTG Flores Barat conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Bajo 2 bay line at Ruteng substation on 28 September 2026 to check the reliability of the electricity system after the Flores earthquake.

The maintenance team from PLN’s Flores Barat Transmission and Substation Service Unit worked under the coordination of PLN UPT Kupang, according to Tribunnews. The assessment covered the equipment on the Bajo 2 bay line, including the circuit breaker, lightning arrester, current transformer, disconnecting switch, capacitive voltage transformer and protection system.

The inspection began with a safety briefing and recording of initial current and voltage parameters. The team then isolated the voltage, inspected the installation and installed grounding before testing the equipment.

PLN ULTG Flores Barat manager Reza Bagus Nugrahardiyono said the assessment was important for detecting possible hidden faults caused by earthquake vibrations. The checks included equipment function and characteristic tests, rather than only a visual inspection.

Why the Ruteng inspection matters to Flores readers

The Bajo 2 bay line forms part of the electricity infrastructure serving the Ruteng area. Testing after an earthquake gives PLN operational information about whether the transmission equipment is functioning within its expected parameters.

After the tests, the team carried out a final check, cleaned the work area and restored the system gradually. PLN then recorded current and voltage parameters again after energising the equipment, before closing the work with an operational evaluation.

Tribunnews reported that PLN described the work as a proactive measure intended to keep the electricity system in Flores reliable and safe for community activity after the disaster.
