Labuan Bajo transport: what official data can confirm

Official data places Labuan Bajo at the centre of West Manggarai’s transport statistics, but airport and port figures are recorded in separate systems and must not be combined without location-specific tables.

Labuan Bajo functions as West Manggarai’s main air-and-sea gateway, but the official material gathered here does not provide enough independently verified, route-level figures to explain the town’s full transport system. BPS publishes the relevant annual statistics, while national transport data confirms the port system is monitored separately.

What can official statistics confirm?

The Central Statistics Agency’s 2025 publication, Kabupaten Manggarai Barat Dalam Angka 2025, is the main reference for local population, infrastructure, transport and service indicators. It was released on 28 February 2025, according to BPS Kabupaten Manggarai Barat, 2025.

The publication identifies Labuan Bajo with the postal code 86554, according to BPS Kabupaten Manggarai Barat, 2025. That is an administrative reference, not a measure of the town’s passenger traffic or capacity.

How is the port measured?

Port activity is recorded through the Ministry of Transportation’s Inaportnet monitoring system rather than through the BPS publication alone. The system reports 105,855 domestic-vessel visits and 10,398 foreign-vessel visits in the displayed national monitoring data, according to the Ministry of Transportation, accessed 30 September 2026.

Those figures are system-wide monitoring figures and are not identified on the returned page as Labuan Bajo totals. They therefore cannot be used to describe the town’s port volume.

What does the airport data show?

The Ministry of Transportation’s air-transport statistics portal provides official airport traffic tables, including Lebaran 2025 statistics, according to the ministry’s transport-information system, 2025. The returned material does not show a Labuan Bajo-specific passenger total that can be safely reported here.

A separate ministry procurement document describes Komodo Airport as handling scheduled aircraft movements and private jets, but the excerpt does not establish a complete annual passenger count for Labuan Bajo, according to the Ministry of Transportation, 2026.

What should readers take from this?

Labuan Bajo’s gateway role is documented through separate official statistical systems: BPS covers the regency’s local indicators, while the Ministry of Transportation maintains distinct air and maritime datasets. A precise account of airport, port and town mobility requires matching the location and period in each table rather than combining headline figures.
