BMKG warns of moderate waves in Komodo waters
BMKG forecast moderate waves of more than 1.25 to 2.5 metres in several NTT waters from 28 September to 1 October. Komodo waters were included on 28–29 September.

Labuan Bajo — BMKG Stasiun Meteorologi Maritim Tenau forecast moderate waves of more than 1.25 to 2.5 metres in several Nusa Tenggara Timur waters from 28 September to 1 October 2026. The information was valid from 28 September 2026 at 08.00 WITA (UTC+8) to 1 October 2026 at 08.00 WITA (UTC+8), according to RRI. The forecast included Komodo National Park waters on 28–29 September 2026. BMKG urged fishermen, vessel operators and sea-transport users to check weather and wave conditions before sailing. The agency said the forecast covered moderate to high waves in several waters of the province.
The moderate-wave range was more than 1.25 to 2.5 metres. The areas listed for 28–29 September included Sape Strait, Flores-Lamakera Strait, Pantar Strait, Alor Strait, southern Flores waters, southern Alor-Pantar waters, Savu Sea, Ombai Strait, northern Timor waters, northern Kupang-Rote waters, Pukuafu Strait, southern Timor-Rote waters and Komodo National Park waters.

Travellers and other sea users in the Komodo area were included in the warning period. RRI reported that the information was issued by BMKG's Tenau Maritime Meteorological Station, while the report carried by OB News said the agency specifically appealed to fishermen, vessel operators and sea-transport users to consider current weather and wave conditions before undertaking activities at sea.
The same forecast also identified high waves of 2.5–3 metres in western Sumba Strait, southern Sumba waters and Sabu-Raijua waters on 28–29 September 2026, according to RRI. The report did not state a closure of Komodo National Park or a suspension of sea transport.
