Labuan Bajo — Danantara Indonesia has announced a greenfield tourism investment in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, in cooperation with Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), according to a Danantara press release dated March 31, 2026 and independent reporting that same day. The announcement did not disclose a project value, named facilities or a construction schedule.
The Danantara statement said the investment is intended to support Indonesia’s tourism sector and create opportunities for the local economy. It described QIA as an existing investor in the project and said the plan is a greenfield development, meaning it would be built from the ground up.
Independent coverage from local and national business outlets said the initiative is meant to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a world-class tourism destination and support economic growth in eastern Indonesia. One report quoted Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir saying the plan is meant to generate sustainable returns while opening new social and economic opportunities.
Labuan Bajo sits on the western tip of Flores and serves as a gateway to Komodo National Park. Danantara said the area’s strategic role in tourism made it a suitable location for new investment.
