Kupang — Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) warned of potential coastal flooding across parts of East Nusa Tenggara from Thursday, 8 October, to Saturday, 10 October 2026.
The warning covers the coasts of Flores-Alor, Sabu-Raijua, Sumba and Timor-Rote. BMKG issued the information through the Tenau Kupang Maritime Meteorological Station.
The agency linked the risk to a new-moon phase expected on 10 October 2026, which could raise maximum sea levels. BMKG said its assessment also considered water-level data, tidal predictions, wind speed and wave height.
