Ruteng — BMKG recorded 18,486 aftershocks from the Flores earthquake sequence through Sunday at 06:00 WITA, according to Arief Tyastama, head of the Kupang Geophysics Station. A shallow magnitude-4.2 earthquake then occurred at 16:41 WITA on Monday, 28 September 2026, about 60 kilometres north of Ruteng in Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.
The Monday event brought the reported cumulative number of aftershocks to 18,487. The earthquake occurred offshore, 60 kilometres north of Ruteng, and was located in Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.
